Hey--that's the history of Miami's program. I understand where the "Thug U" and all that stuff comes from. I've never made excuses for the Pell Grant scandal or Uncle Luke putting bounties on opposing players' heads. That stuff was pretty wrong. As for the "unclassy" stuff that they did back then, wearing camo, celebrating, getting unsportsmanlike taunting penalties--all of that was swagger--was an attitude, and they won with it. It pissed off a lot of the CFB establishment because they were flashy, fun, innovative--and most of all, successful. It's a part of what the Miami program is. I'm not distancing the program from that part of it's history at all. I'm fully aware of what those teams did and what's been made a bigger deal than what it was to give Miami that "Thug U" image.

Now, as for this team under Shannon--he's not going to put up with that stuff. He knows the importance of keeping kids accountable for their actions, out of trouble with the law, and concentrating on becoming the best person & football player they can become. You're not going to see a bunch of penalties, you're not going to see Khalil Jones catching a TD pass and running into the tunnel of the Cotton Bowl and acting like he's a cowboy shooting at the opposing team. You're going to see the type of teams that you saw back in 2000/2001. Damn good players that know how to win and execute their gameplans, and win that way--maybe having a character or two on the team (ala Shockey or Winslow Jr), but overall a quality bunch of kids. Shannon's looking to make that the norm again in Miami, without all of the legal/drug problems that have plagued them in the past and that plague a bunch of other programs that don't get knocked for it nearly as much as Miami does for shizz that happened 5, 10, 15 years ago. UF with eight arrests in 2007 alone, and they're looked at as a squeaky clean program--why? Because the media pumps them up as a clean program and turn a blind eye to what's really goin on.

And I didn't bring up Miami in this thread--a UT fan did, so deal with it. I'll boast about my team all I want to b/c they deserve it in my eyes. I deal with people downing the Canes daily, so I'm gonna correct people when they spout off about stuff they don't know about when it comes to the Canes.

How can anybody pull for Thug U and Whitey U? Cane, I just don't understand you. Your down with the Thug U Canes and the Whitey Dukies? You should be a Georgetown fan in basketball.

I like pro style offenses/tough NFL type defenses in football and drive & kick 3pt buckets & tough man D in basketball. Both programs play with a lot of passion.

I guess that's the similarity for both of those programs I like. Other than that, really can't explain it overall.

Speaking of Duke...their football team isn't quite as bad this year as ususal..they are 2-1 and I think they have a chance at UVA and NC State. Not that it matters, but still.
